The Family And Community Engagement Corp is a youth, family and community engagement organization with a vision of collaborative support through positive, healthy, and uplifting activities. Our main goal is to see to it that "FACE Corp" serves as a focal point of service and volunteerism for the sake of children in the Plainfield area and beyond. We operate a Martial Arts studio at our location at 1733 East Second Street in Scotch Plains, NJ.

The founding organization, established in 1950 as "Plainfield PAL," has provided youth and families with recreational, athletic and educational experiences over many years and with the help of numerous volunteers. Consistent fundraising efforts such as private and public donations and events hosted by our organization have kept it afloat in the past, but in recent years, the light has burned dim. Although we are under the umbrella of the National P.A.L., funding from that source as well as others remains limited. The current team is dedicated, inspired, motivated, to pick up the torch and blaze new trails of hope and success for Plainfield Youth! So we need help from you and everyone you know.

As of July 23, 2014 FACE Corp is under a dynamic new management team. Executive Director, Myke Washington, assumed the helm with an ambitious agenda: to bring Martial Arts, Fitness, Mentoring, Tutoring, Music, Dance, Computer skills, and a wide array of other youth and family-oriented activities to Plainfield area communities in ways never before seen.

In 1986, Washington presented his proposal to establish a karate team to then P-CAL President Stephen Jordan Jr. for a board approval and thousands of youth and family members were served through activities centered on Karate. The groundwork was laid. He continued to bring martial arts discipline, self confidence, brotherhood and sisterhood, and many of the other values associated with comprehensive training to scores of youth and adults over the years, as a public school teacher, businessman and community role model, as well as a proud father.

We have connected with some talented individuals, both locally and distant, each committing to assist us in one way or another, in our endeavors. Musicians, Artists, Personal Trainers, Teachers, Athletes and others are applauding this noble mission, some agreeing to serve as advisers and supervise projects. But with limited finances, we find ourselves still struggling to stay afloat, without monetary assistance. We urge you to do what you can help. In addition to funding for space rental,  we are in need of such items as office desks, chairs, file cabinets, computers, supplies, fitness mats, mirrors, safety equipment, and much more, in order to be successful.
